Athletistic/Hockey. Washington Capitals captain and forward Alexander Ovechkin says he’s not interested in legendary goaltender Dominik Hasek’s criticism of the NHL. Previously, the Czech had repeatedly stated that the North American league shamefully did not take any sanctions against Russian hockey players in the context of the events in Ukraine.

“Hasek’s statements don’t interest me much. In the NHL, teams select hockey players based on their skills and abilities, not on their nationality,” Ovechkin told Izvestia.

After the start of the special military operation (SVO) of the Russian armed forces on the territory of Ukraine, Dominik Hasek has repeatedly criticized Russia and its athletes. In February, the Czech was outraged by the participation of nine Russians, as well as his eldest son Alexander Ovechkin, in the 2023 NHL All-Star Game.
