Athletistic/Hockey. Washington Capitals captain and forward Alexander Ovechkin shared his life plans after retiring as a hockey player. On September 17, the legendary Russian will turn 38 years old.

“There are a lot of directions, but now I am completely focused on my hockey career and the success of Washington. Of course, after I hang up my skates, I will devote a lot of time to the academy which, as I hope really, will open by then.

And of course, I will devote most of my time to my family. I have two sons, and because of constant travel, they don’t see me often,” Ovechkin was quoted as saying by Izvestia.

Alexander Ovechkin has played for Washington since 2005. The Russian was selected by the Capitals with the first pick in the 2004 NHL Draft. The Russian has spent his entire career overseas with the Caps. In 2018, Ovi helped Washington win the first Stanley Cup in club history. In 18 years in North America, the forward scored 822 goals and now ranks second on the list of best snipers in NHL history, just behind Wayne Gretzky (894).
