Svishchev stressed that Hasek will be remembered by Russian fans as a great hockey player. However, his comments today are confusing.
“I am sure that Hasek’s fans would love to come together to help pay for his treatment in one of Russia’s psychiatric clinics. Such medicine is well developed in our country. It would be easier even for representatives of the NHL to transfer funds for his treatment than try to explain that his statements are unacceptable.
Unfortunately, at present a person is trying to use such statements to promote himself and does not think at all about how this can affect his own reputation. He just can’t accept that his opinion isn’t valued right now. I would recommend Hasek to consider coaching in order to pass on his vast experience to young hockey players. I’m sure he would do just fine. This is a much more productive approach than trying to undermine your political reputation with absurd statements,” Svishchev noted in an interview with RT.
