In February 2022, Amirov was diagnosed with a brain tumor. The death of the 21-year-old hockey player was announced on August 14.

Amirov is a student of Salavat Yulaev. He has 10 goals and eight assists in 79 games in the KHL. In the 2020 NHL Draft, Amirov was selected 15th overall by Toronto. In April 2021, the Russian signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Canadian club.
