“I always played with good guys in all teams” – Shipachev about the points record in the KHL

Ak Bars forward Vadim Shipachev shared his emotions after taking first place in the list of top scorers of the regular KHL championships.

Shipachev broke Sergei Mozyakin’s record for the number of points scored in the regular championship. The striker scored two assists in a home match against Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod (4:3) in the Fonbet KHL Championship.

Shipachev, 36, has scored 758 career points in regular KHL championships, with 239 goals and 519 assists in 769 games. Mozyakin has 756 (351+405) points in 685 games.

— An impressive achievement, what emotions?

— I always played with good guys on all the teams. We now have excellent partners in Kazan. They help.

— How did the team congratulate you?

— After the match, Zinetula Khaidarovich Bilyaletdinov said a few words, and then the guys congratulated him. They gave me a beautiful and memorable plaque. I will put it at home, my children will be very happy. Happy to have won. The match didn’t start very well, in the second period we conceded a power play goal. Timur Bilyalov was great, he played very well and we won.

— But you directly influenced this result: you helped to equalize and then win.

– At first, and for the most part, they let me go straight in front of me. But it’s good that we won and scored two points,” Shipachev was quoted as saying by the press service of Ak Bars.
