Athletistic/Hockey. Former player of Vityaz near Moscow, Canadian John Mirasti, said on the Spittin’ Chiclets podcast that during a performance in the KHL he was offered money to beat Sergei Fedorov. The current head coach of CSKA played at Metallurg Magnitogorsk at the time.
“Believe it or not, I was innocent. When we were in pre-season, we went to Magnitogorsk. Sergei Fedorov was joining us there at that time. And I remember how the coach offered me to pay me to beat Fedorov. I said, ‘No, that’s not going to happen!’ When I was young, Sergei was one of my favorite players. Number 91 of the Detroit Red Wings… So I said no.
In any case, in the same season I fought with Evgeniy Artyukhin. After that fight, I remember that Nazarov was delighted, because I had beaten my opponent then. And he said to me, “Hey Canadians, you know, we’ve been working hard on this for about a month. Now you can go out and have fun! Just go to a bar or something.” It was Sunday evening. I remember we went to dinner at that time, drank vodka – and a bottle cost about 10 dollars, so in Russia you can live like a rock star, ”said Mirasti.
John Mirasti played for Vityaz in the 2011/2012 season. The Moscow region club was then headed by Andrei Nazarov.
