Athletistic/Hockey. SKA head coach Roman Rotenberg equated his team’s victory over Severstal (4:1) in the KHL championship match with the breaking of the siege of Leningrad.

This success broke a series of five consecutive defeats in the regular season for the St. Petersburg team, where they failed to defeat Torpedo (3:4), Lokomotiv (2:3), Spartak ( 0:3), Dynamo (1:3) and “Siberia” (1:2).

“Yes, hockey is a game of emotions, we saw how Ledovy expired, how the guys took to the game. Today there was a breakthrough similar to that during the siege of Leningrad,” noted Rotenberg after the match.

Currently, SKA is in ninth place in the Western Conference standings, with 6 points from 8 matches. In the next match, the St. Petersburg team will play away against Amur (September 23).
