Russian goaltender for the National Hockey League (NHL) club New York Rangers Igor Shesterkin said that last season he was angry with himself because he didn’t show the expected level of play.
During the last regular season, Shesterkin played 58 matches in which he won 37 victories, stopping 91.6% of shots and conceding an average of 2.48 goals per game.
“Right now I just want to stay positive.” Because last season I was very angry with myself because I didn’t play the way I wanted to. Every practice, I was incredibly angry. “I didn’t want to talk to anyone except my family,” journalist Molly Walker quoted Shesterkin as saying on social media.
At the end of the 2021/22 season, Shesterkin won the Vezina Trophy, an award for the best goaltender in the NHL regular season.
