Defender “Metallurgy” Robin Press said he expects good results from the team in the away series of the Fonbet championship KHL .
On Wednesday, September 20, Metallurg defeated Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg (2:1) in a shootout. In this meeting, Press scored his first goal for the Magnitogorsk club.
— How does it feel to score the first goal of the season for a new team?
— Of course, it’s always good to be different, especially when it’s the first goal! It was a great feeling, I was happy at that moment.
— This time, we beat Avtomobilist outside of regulation time. For what?
– It’s a game, you have to give credit to the opponent, he defended well. It doesn’t matter that they only came into focus during a shootout. Victory is victory, that’s the most important thing.
— There were a lot of scoring chances in the middle of the match, why didn’t they capitalize?
— I think in terms of content, we played well throughout the match. I wouldn’t say there was a bias in terms of moments in the second half. It’s hard to say why they only scored once. Probably lacked precision. They probably should have shot more, put more pressure on their goaltender more often, moved the puck faster and been more precise in finishing.
— How to extend the winning streak while traveling? The route is not easy: Cherepovets, Yaroslavl, Mytishchi and Ufa.
“It won’t be easy, because there are times.” For example, we will not have such support in the stands. But we have a system, we understand how necessary it is and how we can play it ourselves. I think from match to match we become stronger, from victory to victory – more confident. So I would say our chances of making this trip are pretty good,” Press quotes Metaratings.ru.
As part of the away series, Metallurg will play Cherepovets Severstal (September 23), Yaroslavl Lokomotiv (September 25), Chinese Kunlun Red Star (September 27) and Ufa Salavat Yulaev (September 29).
