Athletistic / Hockey. Washington Capitals captain and forward Alexander Ovechkin supported his compatriot and teammate Evgeny Kuznetsov ahead of the start of the new NHL season. The leader of the Capitals emphasized that the Chelyabinsk hockey graduate is an important element of the team.
“Kuznetsov remains an important part of our team. There were a lot of rumors about him and Tom Wilson. But I’m sure Kuznetsov will show up compared to last season, because he was injured then.
When you feel bad, when you cannot show yourself 100%, then everything becomes quite difficult,” Ovechkin was quoted as saying by the Washington press service.
Evgeniy Kuznetsov played 81 games in the NHL last season and scored 55 (12+43) points in the goal+pass system. It is worth noting that the 31-year-old Russian has become the best assistant in the capital.
Kuznetsov’s contract with Washington is valid until June 30, 2025. His salary is $7.8 million.
Note that the new NHL season will begin on October 10.
