The National Hockey League (NHL) Board of Directors has approved the sale of the club.Ottawa Senators », to Canadian businessman Michael Andlauer, reports the organization’s press service.
The agreement for the sale of the club is officially concluded. Previously, the owner of Ottawa was businessman Eugene Melnik; after his death, property rights passed to his daughters. They retained a 10% stake.
“The Ottawa Senators are an incredible organization, from the players to the staff to their most passionate fans. “I am very happy to be officially part of this team,” Andlauer said, as quoted by the league press service.
Last season, Ottawa finished 11th in the Eastern Conference standings and did not make the playoffs.
