Arizona beat Los Angeles in an NHL preseason game, held in Australia for the first time.

Arizona Coyotes “defeated”Los Angeles Kings ” during the first preparatory game of the National Hockey League (NHL) in the southern hemisphere.

For the first time in history, the meeting took place in Australia; the teams played in Melbourne, at the Rod Laver Tennis Arena. As reported on the NHL website, all tickets were sold and 13,097 spectators attended the game. The match ended with a score of 5:3 (0:0, 4:3, 1:0) in favor of Arizona. The winning goal was scored by 19-year-old American forward Logan Cooley, who made his NHL debut with the Coyotes and was selected third overall by the team in the first round of the 2022 draft. The Russian defenseman from Los Angeles Vladislav Gavrikov did not show any effective action.

The teams will face off again on Sunday in Melbourne.

The new NHL season begins on October 10.
