Former NHL forward Anaheim Ducks Nicholas Kerdiles died at the age of 29 after being injured in a motorcycle accident in Nashville, the team’s press office reports.
“We are heartbroken to hear the news that Nick died in a motorcycle accident this morning.” Our deepest condolences go to his family and loved ones,” the statement said.
According to TMZ, the accident happened Saturday night when Kerdiles ran a stop sign in a residential neighborhood. Police say a hockey player on a motorcycle crashed into the driver’s door of a car. Another driver stopped and the victim was taken to hospital, where he later died. None of the people involved in the accident showed signs of health problems.
In 2012, Kerdiles was selected 36th overall by Anaheim in the NHL Draft. In total, he played in seven NHL games, including four playoff games. He played for American youth teams and in the American Hockey League.
