“Every offseason everyone tries to take Torpedo somewhere? The search for promising newcomers is a problematic topic. Either you need to buy them, and not cheaply, which we can’t always afford. Or you need to dig deeper. and look, other people don’t always pay attention. That’s how we find guys. But there are risks here – whether they play or not. We work using the trial method and mistakes, trying to take young hockey players to the next level with the help of the coaching staff and their confidence.
Igor Larionov has extended his contract with Torpedo, but could he move to another club next summer? Igor Nikolaevich and I did not discuss this issue in detail. It seems to me that we will certainly talk about this a little later, when the time is right. Of course, we would like to keep Larionov among us. As I understand it, he loves everything now – both in the city and in the team. He has his own thoughts and big ambitions. The highest goals are always only victory. But the question remains open and we will see how everything will turn out,” Kharlamov told Match TV.
Last season, Nizhny Novgorod became a revelation in the KHL, finishing the regular season in fourth place in the Western Conference. In the first round of the playoffs, Torpedo defeated Dynamo Moscow (4-2 in the series), but then lost to SKA (0-4 in the series).
