Russian goalie of the NHL club “Tampa Bay Lightning » Andrei Vasilyevsky has successfully undergone back surgery, according to the club’s official website.
“Andrei Vasilevsky successfully underwent a microdiscectomy this morning for a herniated disc in the lumbar region,” said Lightning vice-president and general manager Julien Brisbois.
The 29-year-old Russian is expected to need two months to recover.
Last season, Vasilevsky played 60 games with Tampa in the NHL regular season, earning 34 wins with the team with a save percentage of 91.5 and a safety factor of 2.65.
The new NHL season begins on October 11 and will last until April 19, 2024.
