Semin retired beautifully from hockey. In your hometown, in front of your family and friends, and next to celebrity partners

On the last day of June, Alexander Semin’s farewell match took place in Krasnoyarsk.

The day in Krasnoyarsk began with four stars who came to Tatyshev Island: Pavel Datsyuk, Alexander Ovechkin, Alexander Semin and Dmitry Orlov to plant trees in the local park.

Now Krasnoyarsk Park will have an alley lined with hockey stars.

Alexander Semin and Pavel Datsyuk work with shovels like clubs.

Hockey night started with a game with sledge hockey players

There were many famous participants in the evening’s main match, including 1993 world champion Andrey Nikolishin and current Salavat coach Viktor Kozlov.

Alexander’s parents were the most honored guests.

The match itself was played in the format of Semin’s team against Datsyuk’s team.

Pavel Datsyuk started the story by saying he won’t play hockey professionally anymore. Not that it’s a big surprise, but the wizard had never made such statements about the end of his career before.

In the same team with 36-year-old Alexander Ovechkin, 21-year-old striker of the Russian national team Arseniy Gritsyuk, born in Krasnoyarsk, played. Gritsyuk said he was embarrassed to speak to the star.

Both teams also included friends of Alexander Semin who were not professional hockey

Alexander Ovechkin scored three goals.

Maxim Afinogenov, Danis Zaripov and Alexander Guskov each scored two goals.

Alexander Semin himself scored a hat-trick.

The match ended with the score 10:9 in favor of the Semin team, but the winner of such meetings is not the most important thing.

Semin, 38, has officially announced the end of his professional career. Alexander played in the NHL for Washington, Carolina and Montreal. In the regular season, he played 650 games and scored 517 (239 + 278) points. In the Russian championship he played for Tractor, Lada, Torpedo and Vityaz, and won the 2016 Gagarin Cup as part of Metallurg Magnitogorsk.
