The International Ice Hockey Federation will not return representatives of the aggressor country to the competition.
Russia will not be returned to international hockey competitions, even youth teams. The International Ice Hockey Federation said it again.
This is the IIHF’s response to accusations by the UEFA leadership that it is removing sanctions from Russian youth teams, which has led to a boycott by many European countries.
The world hockey leadership, in turn, did not see the conditions for the aggressor country to return to international tournaments.
“UEFA is UEFA, and we are the IIHF. And we don’t have tournaments where teams of players under 17 years old can play. And for the 2023/24 season, the decision has already been made. Otherwise, if can, from the beginning of the new season, and this is provided that the appropriate conditions exist,” said IIHF President Luc Tardif.
