Tolchinsky on KHL and FHR 3-on-3 tournaments: ‘It’s like comparing football and futsal’

“3 on 3” tournaments under the auspices of FHR and KHL cannot be compared, as they are like two different sports, said Omsk striker Avangard. Sergei Tolchinsky .

Tolchinsky, as part of the Phoenix team, became the winner of the KHL 3v3 tournament in Mytishchi. Previously, he took part in similar competitions, but according to the FHR format – on a large platform and with different rules.

– Of course, I wanted to win, otherwise why come here? In the end, they rushed, fired up as much as they could, practiced, and yelled at each other so there were no casualties in their zone. Everything was like in the Gagarin Cup match,” Tolchinsky told reporters.

– Can this tournament be compared to what the FHR had?

– You can’t compare them, it’s like two sports – football or mini-football, for example, or tennis or table tennis. There is a bigger playing field, different hockey at all. Everything here is on a handkerchief. I like both this and that – wherever you train specific qualities. The legs are pretty good here.

– But in terms of ice, was it hard here?

– Ice – yes, in the third period it leaves a lot to be desired. The puck does not roll, it gets stuck.

– What are your plans?

– I will rest for five days, this is the last rest before the training camp. And that’s it, I’m going to fly to Omsk.

– How did Krasikov end up on your bench?

– We needed a coach, mainly for psychology. So he came, helped, drew something. Admittedly, everything he told us did not work.
