New SKA goalkeeper Nikita Serebriakov admitted that he was aware of his inclusion in the starting lineup of the St. Petersburg team for the KHL regular season match against CSKA.
The exchange of last season’s best goalie in the KHL, Nikita Serebryakov, from Admiral Vladivostok to SKA was announced on Wednesday. The meeting between CSKA and SKA took place on Friday in Moscow and ended with the victory of the guests with a score of 3:2. Serebryakov entered the match in the starting lineup and made 34 saves.
— SKA head coach Roman Rotenberg said that you came to the match by plane and that it was a sporting feat. Do you agree?
– It’s always nice to win. These are the most important emotions. And so, yeah, it was hard to get in, I haven’t played in a long time. But the most important thing is the team’s victory.
— Have you ever been stunned by the missed puck in the 40th second?
“I’ve already missed so many goals in my career that it doesn’t make sense to focus on what, when and how. There are still 59 minutes left and the main thing is to keep playing.
“But a start like this couldn’t be worse.”
“But in the end we won.” So, on the contrary, I would say that this is the best start.
— Before the match, you only completed two training sessions with SKA. Was it understood that you would make your debut in the match against CSKA?
– Yes, I knew that in Vladivostok. Therefore, I prepared myself mentally and physically.
— How exactly did you prepare?
— The most important thing is that I tried to adjust my head, to sleep as much as possible on the plane, so as not to rearrange the time. And so, the usual preparation continued, as with any match.
— Aren’t you embarrassed by so many failures of the SKA defenders? This probably didn’t happen in “Admiral”?
– Maybe you didn’t look well? Sometimes it happened! Generally speaking, we will improve our game every game. But we played against CSKA, against the champions. There are great masters there and we have prepared for them.
– How many percent did you play the match yourself?
— I won’t say in numbers, but I played well after a long break due to injury. “I haven’t played since September 21,” Serebryakov was quoted as saying by a correspondent.
After this victory, SKA returned to the playoff zone – the St. Petersburg Army team is in eighth place in the Western Conference standings with 14 points.
