Athletistic / Hockey. Famous North American journalist Kevin Weeks, who works for TSN, reacted to the inclusion of Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin among the top 50 active NHL players. The 38-year-old Russian took 33rd place in the rankings.
“Ovechkin is at the top of my list. Just the fact that he’s going for Gretzky’s record…I spoke with Wayne. He said he was happy and very proud of what Ovechkin has already accomplished. I think it should be higher,” he said. Weeks said on TSN.
Alexander Ovechkin has played for Washington since 2005. The Russian was selected by the Capitals with the first pick in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He spent his entire career overseas with Washington. In 2018, the Russian helped the Capitals win the first Stanley Cup in club history.
Last season in the NHL, Ovechkin participated in 73 regular season games and scored 75 points for his performance – 42 goals and 33 assists. In total, he has 822 accurate shots in the NHL, making him the second sniper in league history.
