Canada will host the Women’s Ice Hockey World Championship in the Olympic years – 2026 and 2030, reports the press service of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF).
The decision was made during the IIHF’s biannual congress, held in Vilamoura, Portugal.
— Hockey Canada will strengthen its commitment to promoting women’s hockey. Canada will host the Women’s World Championships in 2026 and 2030, and also plans to host the Junior Women’s World Championships (players 18 and under) in 2026, 2028 and 2030, the release said.
The 2027 Women’s World Cup will be moved from Canada.
Also at the congress, a decision was made on the venue of two junior men’s world championships (players up to 18 years old). In 2025 the tournament will take place in the United States, in 2026 in Slovakia.
The 2026 Winter Olympics will be held in Milan and Cortin d’Ampezzo; the location of the 2030 Olympics has not yet been determined.
