In one of the episodes in the latter part of the second period, American Capitals forward TJ Oshie made a power move against Canadian Blue Jackets forward Adamu Fantilli. After this incident, the Columbus players intended to take revenge on Osha for his strength, but the captain of Washington, Russian striker Alexander Ovechkin, intervened in an attempt to protect his partner from rivals.
