Samsonov’s Toronto teammate, goaltender Murray, will be out more than six months after surgery

Goalie “Toronto” Matt Murray has successfully undergone bilateral hip surgery, the club’s press service reports.

He is expected to miss 6 to 8 months. Last season, due to injuries, the goaltender only played 26 games in the NHL regular season, allowing an average of 3.01 goals and stopping 90.3% of shots.

Another Toronto goaltender is Russian Ilya Samsonov. Last summer, arbitration awarded him a one-year contract with a salary of $3.55 million.

The Russian goalie played 42 NHL games during the 2022/23 regular season, stopping 91.9% of shots with a 2.33 safety factor. He also has 9 playoff games under his belt.
