Former Head Coach Russian team hockey Oleg Znarok headed “AK Bars” according to the Kazan club website.
The contract with the 59-year-old specialist is for one year. Znarok replaced the head coach of Ak Bars Dmitry Kvartalnov .
Znark’s coaching staff included Yuriy Babenko (coach), Alexander Boykov (coach), Alexander Agopeev (goalkeeping coach) and Denis Korotyshev (physical trainer).
Znarok is a three-time Gagarin Cup winner (twice with Dynamo Moscow, once with SKA St. Petersburg), world champion and Olympic champion with the Russian team. He also worked with HC MVD, Spartak Moscow and the Latvian team.
This season, Ak Bars failed to reach the second round of the KHL playoffs, losing in six matches to Avangard Omsk.
