Chelyabinsk Traktor should not appoint a foreigner as head coach, said two-time Olympic hockey champion Alexander Kozhevnikov.
On October 4, Traktor announced the dismissal of Anvar Gatiyatulin from the position of head coach, Alexey Zavarukhin became interim. On October 7, the Chelyabinsk club beat Omsk Avangard (4:1) on the road and on October 9 they lost to Astana Barys (1:2).
“Traktor does not need foreign coaches. Why are they here? Chelyabinsk resident (Andrey) Nazarov is unemployed, Ilya Vorobyov is free, there are other famous coaches. Here’s who you should pay attention to. We have enough Russian coaches, and equally little-known Canadians and Americans should not replace our specialists. They come here to make money, and then they leave behind a burned field,” Kozhevnikov told the Championship.
