Two goals from the Russian striker Nikita Koucherov helped the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Nashville Predators at the start of the new NHL season.
Tampa beat Nashville at home with a score of 5:3. Kucherov opened the scoring in the game, scoring the first goal of the new NHL season. Victor Hedman passed the ball to Kucherov, who was positioned three meters from the blue line in the opposing zone. The Russian fired an effective shot towards the Nashville goal without handling the puck. It took Tampa 9 minutes and 48 seconds to open the Predators goal.
Nick Paul (twice) and Brandon Hagel also scored in the winning lineup. Mikhail Sergachev scored an assist. The final score was set by Kucherov, who scored the visitors’ empty goal two seconds before the final siren.
