Athletistic / Hockey. Famous Russian coach Andrei Nazarov spoke about the political situation in the world. He spoke of injustice towards Russia, whose teams, against the background of events in Ukraine, were suspended from international competitions in many sports.
“We all see the fragility of the modern world, but for some reason they made Russia the worst. The good and decent Israelis were not affected at all by the sanctions: their national teams and clubs did not were not suspended from international tournaments. But in Russia even the juniors were banned: after the positive decision, UEFA was immediately put under pressure and it handed it back. In hockey too, absolutely everyone is not not allowed: from juniors to women to men.
We must remain realistic and understand that the situation is unlikely to change in the near future. Therefore, the upcoming Channel One Hockey Cup has additional importance for us,” Nazarov was quoted as saying by “Championship”.
FHR President Vladislav Tretyak previously said that the organization requested the IIHF to allow the country’s youth teams to participate in international competitions, taking into account the decision of the FIFA executive committees and of UEFA to admit Russian national teams (U17) to international tournaments.
