Athletistic / Hockey. Washington Capitals forward Dylan Strome shared his thoughts on Capital captain Alexander Ovechkin’s pursuit of Wayne Gretzky’s record for most goals scored in an NHL regular season.
“I think it’s hard not to think about it now. Maybe Ovie will score a little less than last season because he no longer needs to surpass Gordie Howe and reach 800 goals. I think when he doesn’t have to do it, “then a little less attention is on him. But at the same time, Alexander gets much closer to history every time he hits the opponent’s goal,” Strome was quoted as saying by the NHL press service.
Alexander Ovechkin joined the NHL in the fall of 2005. During this period, the Russian played 1,347 NHL regular season games and scored 1,485 points, scoring 822 goals and completing 663 assists. Its overall usefulness score currently stands at +67. He is now 72 goals behind Wayne Gretzky (894).
Washington will begin the new season next night by hosting the Pittsburgh Penguins. The meeting will take place on the night of October 14 and will start at 2:30 p.m. Moscow time.
