Athletistic/Hockey. Former Russian national hockey team coach Vladimir Pluschev expects Washington Capitals forward Alexander Ovechkin to score between 30 and 40 goals in the new NHL season.

Ovechkin has 822 career NHL regular season goals. To beat Wayne Gretzky’s record, he will need to score 73 goals against his opponents. Last season, Ovechkin scored 75 points (42+33) in 73 regular season games.

“I believe that the number of goals that Alexander will score this season will directly depend on his physical fitness and health. I believe that he is perfectly prepared for this challenge and, given his character, we can expect he scores 30, even 40 goals,” noted Pliouchchev.
