Defender CSKA Matvey Shuravin told that he was happy to score the first point of his career at the KHL level, but he practically did not participate in the moment of scoring.
On Saturday, CSKA defeated Sochi in the home match of the Fonbet KHL Championship with a score of 2:1. 17-year-old Shuravin, who participated in the first goal, scored the first point in his KHL career.
— After two goals in 18 seconds, it looked like you were going to destroy Sochi. Why didn’t it work?
— “Sochi” took a timeout after two missed goals, Dmitry Aleksandrovich (Kokarev, coach of “Sochi” – Editor’s note) said a few good words, brought them to their senses, and the guys started to play a little more actively, and not like at the very beginning. That’s why it was more difficult later.
— The adaptation to the KHL has passed, can we say that already?
– Certainly not, it’s only just beginning. There are still many nuances to work on. There are many elements that need to be done. Usually there is something to work on. The anxiety is still there, but I get through a shift or two and it goes away. There are problems getting out of the zone, with other nuances. There is still a lot of work to do.
— Do you set a specific personal goal? Becoming a full-fledged team player, including in the playoffs, getting 10+ minutes of play in every game, etc. ?
– Everyone sets similar goals. But we must not forget the competition at CSKA. I understand that there is a lot of work to do, that’s why I formulate my goal as simply as possible: to grow, develop in order to become a good player in the future.
— Is the first point a significant event for you? Or are you waiting for the first puck?
– It’s nice, of course, but I’m just lucky that it happened this way. I just blocked the shot, and Maxi Mamin and Darren (Dietz) did a good job up front,” Shuravin told .
