Athletistic/Hockey. President of the International Hockey Federation (IIHF) Luc Tardif, in an interview with Sport-Express, commented on the possible impact of the contract situation of CSKA goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov on the return of Russian teams to international tournaments under the auspices of the organization.

— Could the situation with Fedotov affect relations between the FHR and the IIHF?

“This certainly does not help resolve the situation,” underlined Mr. Tardif.

— Could the possible return of Russian national teams to international competitions under the auspices of the IIHF pose difficulties?

— For the moment, nothing will change until the end of the World Championships in Prague. The decision was taken in March 2023. The question of the 2024-2025 season and the Olympic Games could be considered at any time, but no later than March 2024.

In August, the IIHF imposed a suspension on the goalkeeper until January 1, 2024. Last year, he signed a contract with Philadelphia, but was unable to participate in the season due to his military service in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. In the summer of 2023, he signed a deal with CSKA. The IIHF admitted that Fedotov violated inter-league transfer rules by signing two contracts.
