Washington beat the Calgary Flames (3:2) in a shootout on Monday. Ovechkin, for whom this game was his 1,349th in the NHL, did not manage a single shot on target for the 18th time in his career. The last time the 38-year-old Russian left the ice without hitting the target was during a game against the Detroit Red Wings on November 11, 2021.
Ovechkin has 822 goals in regular NHL championships.
