Before “Tractors” Charles Robinson expressed the opinion that in the Continental Hockey League (KHL ) play more passing games than in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Robinson, 32, played six regular matches in the Fonbet KHL Championship this season, in which he scored two goals.
— What was the level of hockey in the KHL like from the outside and directly on the ice, compared to, for example, the AHL? How much less rough is hockey here than in North America?
— Hockey in the KHL is more patient, more focused on possession of the puck. Everyone plays more passes, looking for the best moment to shoot, rather than shooting on goal at every opportunity. But the key is puck possession.
Again, it’s hard to judge from a few games how hard the hockey is here, but yeah, it seemed to me like it was a little less hard, more skill oriented. But I still use power techniques and plan to continue using them for the benefit of the team.
In the AHL, of course, you have to be on your guard because many will play hard, even if you’re only going to pass or just wait a second for the moment. There might always be a guy on the field who plays hard. So yes, the hockey here is more targeted, more positional and more skillful,” Robinson said, as quoted by Metaratings.ru.
