Athletistic / Hockey. Lokomotiv Yaroslavl defenseman Martin Gernat spoke about his experience playing in the AHL. The Slovak spoke about the problems he encountered while living in North America.
“Some AHL cities are tough. In my third year, our team moved from Oklahoma to Bakersfield, and Stockton was nearby. The hotel told us not to go out, even if we wanted to go to a restaurant , because it was too dangerous.
In the USA, some cities weren’t very beautiful, but that’s part of life. It was a great experience for me, where I lived the life of an AHL player. For me, this period was the most difficult in my career,” Gernat said in an interview with a “Championnat” correspondent.
This season in the KHL, Garnat played 19 games and scored 12 (2+10) points using the goal+pass system. Lokomotiv has scored 29 points in 19 matches and is in second place in the Western Conference standings.
