Athletistic / Hockey. The North American publication ESPN presented a list of the top 100 active NHL players. Nine Russians were on the list.
The first three places were taken by the captain of the Edmonton Oilers Connor McDavid, as well as players from the Colorado Avalanche – defenseman Cale Makar and forward Nathan MacKinnon.
The best of the Russians was Tampa Bay Lightning player Nikita Kucherov, who was in eighth place. Minnesota Wild forward Kirill Kaprizov took 17th place, New York Rangers goalie Igor Shesterkin took 28th place and New York Islanders goalie Ilya Sorokin took 30th place. Rangers forward Artemi Panarin took 32nd place. Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin finished 37th. Tampa defender Mikhail Sergachev took 53rd place. 57th place went to Tampa goalkeeper Andrei Vasilevsky. And in 97th place is Florida Panthers goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky.
Interestingly, Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin was not on that list. The 37-year-old Russian is now tied for second place in the NHL’s top scorers list this season, having scored 7 (3+4) points in the “goal+pass” system in four matches.
