Athletistic / Hockey. Head coach of Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod Igor Larionov spoke about the reasons for the defeat against Siberia (4:5 B) in the home match of the KHL regular season.
“In the end we scored a lot of goals, but unfortunately we came away with just one point. Conceding four is not what we want to see. We ourselves are giving our opponents gifts that we do not receive in return.
I see the reason why we started winning every period and then allowed our opponents to catch up psychologically. With the score 3:1, we shot ourselves in the foot, taking two penalties in a row or making mistakes in the midfield, allowing our opponents to escape one-on-one.
Such matches put a strain on the team emotionally. A minute before the end we lost to Lokomotiv in Yaroslavl, two and a half minutes before losing to Spartak, and today, 17 seconds before the end, we let Siberia equalize,” Larionov was quoted as saying by the KHL press service.
Torpedo currently has 26 points and is in third place in the KHL Western Conference standings. “Sibir” with 19 points now occupies 9th place in the East.
