Athletistic/Hockey. TSN analyst Frank Corrado expressed his opinion regarding the unsuccessful start to the season of Washington Capitals’ Russian forward Alexander Ovechkin.

“Will Ovechkin be able to break Gretzky’s record despite his poor start to the season? I’m still convinced it’s entirely possible. Let me remind you of some facts. This guy has nine seasons with 50 goals or more. Looking at the scorecard, how can he catch up to Gretzky – he needs 72 goals to tie and 73 to break the record – so he needs to score 30 this year, 30 next year, then eliminate 13 more.

Every time we think that Ovechkin is out of shape – for example in the 2016-2017 season, where he scored 33 goals, we have to remember what happened next. He scored 49 goals. He had 24 goals in 45 games in 2020, but then he scored 50. So every time we think Ovechkin is taking a step back, he finds a way to get back into the game.

The season has just started. I have no doubt that Alexander Ovechkin will become the greatest scorer of all time,” Corrado said on TSN.
