Sean Monahan, Brendan Gallagher and Cole Caufield scored for the winners. The Capitals were led by forward Dylan Strome, who scored twice.
Washington captain and forward Alexander Ovechkin scored an assist in 19 minutes 58 seconds of play and finished the game with a utility coefficient of “+1”. His compatriot and teammate Evgeny Kuznetsov also scored an assist, but his utility score was “0”.
“Washington” suffered its third defeat in four matches of the current NHL season. Montreal, in turn, won its second victory.
