Head coach of Nizhny Novgorod Torpedo Igor Larionov admitted that during one of the matches of the Fonbet championship KHL will take place in the team goal Nikolai Khabibulin .
On Tuesday, Torpedo lost to Salavat Yulaev from Ufa with a score of 0:1 in a regular season home match.
— We do not yet see the point of introducing a third goalkeeper. Of course we want to have a reserve. But on the contrary, Khabibulin is in great shape. Hopefully we’ll sign him up for one of the matches. And it’s not a joke, it’s serious,” Larionov said at a press conference.
Khabibulin is an Olympic champion in 1992 and a Stanley Cup winner in 2004 as a member of the Tampa Bay Lightning team. Last May, the 50-year-old specialist joined the Torpedo staff.
