In the 40th minute, Ovechkin managed to score the ball on the power play. This goal was his 823rd career in the National Hockey League. In order to catch Wayne Gretzky’s record for most league goals, Ovechkin still needs to score 71 more goals. Additionally, Ovechkin became the first player in NHL history to score 300 power play goals.
