Anthony Mantha, Dylan Strome (twice), Sonny Milano and Connor McMichael scored for Washington, along with Russian forward Alexander Ovechkin, who scored into an empty net. This goal was Ovechkin’s 824th in the National Hockey League. In order to repeat Wayne Gretzky’s record (894) for league goals scored, Ovechkin needs to score 70 more goals.
Recall that this is Ovechkin’s second goal in the new season of the National Hockey League. The captain of the capital team scored in the second match in a row.
