NHL suspends Ottawa hockey player for 41 games for sports betting

National Hockey League (NHL ) disqualified the hockey player Shayna Pinto for 41 matches for actions related to sports betting, reports the league press service.

The league’s investigation found no evidence that Pinto had bet on NHL games.

“The NHL considers this matter closed unless new information becomes available and will make no further comment,” the press release said.

Pinto became the first hockey player in league history to be suspended for betting on sports.

It was previously reported that Pinto and “Ottawa” cannot agree on a new contract due to serious discrepancies in contract requirements. Pinto is without a contract and is a restricted free agent.

Last season, the forward scored 35 points (20+15) in 82 regular NHL games.
