Canadian hockey player Joe Thornton announced his retirement, reports the official website of the NHL.
Canadian forward Joe Thornton has announced his retirement from the game. The 44-year-old forward spent 24 seasons in the NHL. Thornton played for Boston, San Jose, Toronto and Florida. Thornton last played in the NHL during the 2021/2022 season.
– Guys, I thought you already guessed that earlier, but you still continued to ask questions. “I retired,” said Thornton, whose statement was published on the NHL’s official website.
Thornton played in 1,714 career NHL games and scored 1,539 points (430 goals, 1,109 assists). In the playoffs, Thornton played in 187 games and scored 134 (32+102) points.
Thornton won the 2010 Olympics as a member of Team Canada.
