Russian goaltender for the New York Islanders club Semyon Varlamov was recognized as the third star of the National Hockey League (NHL) game, reports the league’s press service.
On Saturday, during the regular season match against the Columbus Blue Jackets (2:0), the Russian achieved his first shutout of the season, stopping all 34 shots on his own goal.
The second star of the day was Nashville forward Ryan O’Reilly, who scored twice in a home victory against Toronto (3:2 OT).
Anaheim forward Frank Vatrano was chosen as first star. He scored three goals against Philadelphia in the away match (7:4).
