The National Hockey League (NHL) plans to punish”Ottawa Senators “for their role in disrupting the Russian attacker’s exchange Evgenia Dadonova from the Vegas Golden Knights to the Anaheim Ducks, Sportsnet reports.
In March 2022, the NHL invalidated Dadonov’s trade from Vegas to Anaheim due to the fact that the deal violated the no-trade clause included in the Russian’s contract with Ottawa.
Vegas, which acquired Dadonov from Ottawa in the summer of 2021, was under the impression that the Russian forward did not submit to Ottawa a list of teams he did not want to be traded to during the 2021 season in time. /22. It turned out that wasn’t the case and Anaheim was one of the teams included on Dadonov’s list. According to the source, the NHL will soon announce a punishment for Ottawa and clarify the situation that Vegas is not responsible for the failure of the deal.
The Golden Knights eventually traded Dadonov to the Montreal Canadiens at the end of the season. Dadonov now plays for the Dallas Stars, has played in six games this season and scored one goal.
