In the central match of the 8th round Ukrainian hockey championship Sokol defeated the Kyiv Capitals in a shootout – 3:2.
The match lived up to its status, maintaining championship intrigue and intensity until the very end. The leader and champion twice took the lead, but lost the victory three minutes before the end of regulation time, conceding to the opponent in the power play.
Just like 20 days ago, the fate of the derby was decided in a shootout. As then, the Falcon again won. Once again, the decisive goal was scored by Vladimir Cherdak.
Goalkeeper Bogdan Dyachenko won the fourth shootout of the season, not missing a single shot from 22 shots.
Sokol, with 21 points, strengthened his leadership in the Favbet league. Kyiv Capitals (17 points) overtook Dnepr in terms of goals-against difference and returned to second place.
The leader will have to play against Dnepr on November 3. The Capitals will meet Kremenchuk a day later.
