Athletistic/Hockey. Executive Director of the NHL Players’ Association Marty Walsh shared information on the possible participation of NHL hockey players in the 2026 Olympic Games.
“We’re still at the same point. I don’t want to be too optimistic, but I hope we reach the goal. It’s important that our players participate in the Olympics. I think it’s important that the fans have the best of the best at the Olympics. Honestly, I think it would be better for the tournament itself if the best of the best played in it. That’s what we should have.
It’s a priority for us, for me and for the NHL. We have made it clear that we are working collectively on this. I hope a decision will be made as quickly as possible.
We’d like to tell the world that NHL players will be competing in the 2026 Olympics, but we don’t want to have to backtrack at the last minute. It’s a win-win,” Walsh was quoted as saying by The Athletic.
The next Winter Olympic Games will be held from February 6 to 22, 2026 in Italy.
