Athletistic / Hockey. Chelyabinsk Traktor defender Madison Bowie spoke about joint training with Alexander Ovechkin. The 28-year-old Canadian spent two seasons with the Washington Capitals.

“I had to block Ovechkin’s shots in training. During the championship playoffs, I did not play, but I was the seventh defender out of the lineup. But in training, I worked in the minority, where I usually played against Ovi, I tried to block him by the way, he liked it and I hope my work helped him put in a few more pucks. As part of my role was to help the guys prepare for games, I tried to help them that way by hindering their passes and blocking shots.

Some of Ovechkin’s shots were quite painful, especially if the puck hit my leg. But in the end, it was worth it. I became a better player by learning to block shots the right way, to hinder the puck. Working with these guys in practice was a big part of my time in Washington. Every day I got to work with some of the best hockey players on the planet, learn from them, develop my game and become a better player,” Bowie was quoted as saying by “Championship”.

Madison Bowie played for Washington during the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 seasons. In total, the defender played 84 matches for the capital and scored 18 (1+17) points for his performance. He helped the team win the Stanley Cup for the first time in history.
