general manager “Tractors” Alexey Volkov summed up the results of the third Fonbet KHL championship for the Chelyabinsk team.
Currently, the Chelyabinsk club is in fifth place in the East.
— A third of the championship has passed. What are the preliminary results: what worked and what didn’t?
— We do not yet realize the full potential of the team. You can look for any excuse, but hockey players play. They must understand that through their actions the team scores points and the fans get the pleasure of winning, otherwise I, as the general manager, will have to act. This is a rather cynical business. I talked to them about it and the guys understand it. I respect them a lot and value them as people, but work comes first. If there is no result, then I will have to shake up the team. I believe that we are on the right track and that the failures that have occurred will be left behind. We must learn lessons from this situation.
—During this period, did you feel pressure from Chelyabinsk fans?
— There is pressure everywhere. I haven’t heard any unflattering statements, I don’t feel any negativity. On the contrary, the people of the city came to support me. Here the fan understands the game, but it is too early to show the emotional component. The team is at the training stage. It is clear that fans want to receive positive emotions, and when they do not receive them, they have the right to express complaints. I don’t feel like I’m under any pressure on a daily basis, I just do my job. I also have something to improve, just like the technical staff and the players. First of all, I wonder. And I ask very seriously,” RB Sport quotes Volkov.
