Chairman of the Council under the Presidency of Russia for the development of civil society and human rights, Valery Fadeev, told RBC Sport that he rules out the mass departure of young hockey players from Russia after the situation with the goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov .
– It will not affect the departures of the guys to America. It’s an absolutely local event, why go to America? Is it so easy to go there or to find a job? Don’t overstate the magnitude of this episode,” Fadeev said.
On Friday July 1, 25-year-old Fedotov was arrested in St. Petersburg on suspicion of escaping military service. The hockey player requested medical assistance at the assembly point of the military registration and enlistment office, after which he was taken to Botkin Infectious Diseases Hospital. Then the player was sent for further examination to the military medical academy and then to the naval hospital. Later, Fedotov’s lawyer Alexei Ponomarev reported that his client had an exacerbation of gastritis against the background of a nervous breakdown.
